Anyway, i did something interesting yesterday, yup no more dull boring Karen! me and dear tried our hands at being in the retail line! we rented a stall at Lime's flea market behind Cineleisure to sell stuff. we sold sun glasses, second hand clothes and bags.. the hours were quite long, from 1-7pm. i was actually worried at first as i thought that there might not be any crowd and we might make a loss.. But we did not! We covered our rent and had a little profit of about 2o dollars! not bad for our first time. At least there was profit, i heard from one stall owner that she only sold one bag. we were lucky that our stall was in the more congested area, where there were more stalls, there was one place that it was so empty and not many pple walked there.
We even "kang" a whole long mirror over there and guess what, we even had a game to count how many pple walked past and checked themselves out in the mirror, last count was at 7 gers and a few guys. it was quite funny..hehe... hmm. we want to do it again in 2 weeks time. this time would be better! we know what sunglasses pple like and we will get more of those. and we would get more spahgetti tops, those sell faster.. the gers who walked there are all so skinny, they dun even need to try and know that it can fit.. blah... must find a wholesaler for that. there was a guy who was selling boxers, from what my sis say, they are fox boxers that are in the range now.. think those are seasoned pros man.. got the equipment and all... must be in this line for a long time. never mind, next one we will do better. we have the experience liao right dear? i must say that dear had a big part to play in this. he was the one who found this flea market, was the one who had the wholesaler for specs, brought the long mirror there and pushed it from the car park to the place, made lists of stock and everything else. Dear, i must say you are the best thing that happened to me, without you, i thing i might have just sat back and wait for fortune to come. youngest sister came down to help too, let her have a eye opener.
i learnt too late about all this, was sheltered all the time, but it was ok that time cos everyone focused on grades, her age everyone is about entrepeurship.. i think our generation were the testing rats. our year were the year they tried to implement more ecas, tried the cross fac thing etc... sigh we are the generalists in education. we tried abit of this and abit of that..
Surprisingly, we stayed til the end of the market. i thought we would have packed up and left at about 5 plus, but the crowd turnout was quite ok, slow yes, but a steady stream, it helped that the youth centre across had some sort of concert going on, so the audience came by too.
After that, we went to suntec city cos dear wanted to catch the live performance of superband. we knew that suntec would be crawling with pple, so we ate at Shaw tower's creation cafe, which was super good, we had pasta even better than pastamania. and it came with soup, so creamy and a crunchy garlic bread, drink and a oh so delicious brownie with ice cream all in a set. no wonder previously we walked past, we see queues.. and they dun have gst or service charge. there, dear said something real sweet that if my sister was not there, i would have given him a long kiss! He said" now my main aim is to marry you" and he said it so ernestly and honestly that i was taken aback at first. so sweet, but hope its not giving him too mush pressure. i rem one of my younger cousins telling me on her birthday, " Karen jie jie, how old are you?" and when i told her, she said" and you are not married yet?" what the?? but still, rewards come to those who wait patiently ahhahah.. anyway, dear is such a sweetie... cant do without him..
ok enuff gushing, cousins who are reading this might end up puking..hahahah.... lets talk about work then, temp assignment in UBS is going fine, sortof know the ropes there after 2 weeks,. work scoope not at all stressful and sometimes i find myself just staring at the screen not knowing what else to do. my supervisor is super busy and has no time to sit down with me and tell me what he wants me to do.guess i have to use one of the strengths i listed: Iniatitive...haha
now i find myself happy, and glad that i got this job. but too bad its not a perm and longer. never mind, take things as it comes. its good experience as well..somemore Jade works in SUntec too! in tower 4 and i tower 5, can eat lunch together and catch up... but cannot go home together cos no one in the bank goes home at 6pm.... no one moves from their seat at 530pm. boy..
someone is mowing the grass and its noisy like hell! Kisses,
