I went to watch the banquet with my two best frens, their Men and my Man... a midnight show after our dinner at Joo Chiat's Canton Wok. We had strawberry and coffee pork, Fried rice with Crab, shark s fin shop and steamed fish etc... it was not bad but the bill ate up to 300 plus! thats quite alot of moola for eating. after discussing whether to play mahjong, sing KTV or watch movie, watching movie won the vote and we headed down to great world city to buy tickets. Before our show, we went to Timezone to play arcade. funny thing, i never had the interest in play video games, not my kind of thing but it was nice to see dear having fun.i even played a few with him. not very good with shooting but race cars, and i won...
Anyway, back to the crappy ending: Movie spoiler begins... whoever wanting to watch The Banquet, please stop reading.....
The fight scenes, they were pretty good, the choreography was pretty good. i especially like the scene that Zhang Ziyi and Daniel Wu fought with each other after the bath scene.And the bath scene where Ziyi used the body double, chey it is nothing.Dunnoe what is the whoha about. The body double just a fleeting shot only... Thought Ziyi's acting was not bad.... i like the way she protrayed herself in this show.
Scenary was quite nice. made me think of china (if it is shot there) as a place to visit in the future. Thought that they tried to make it abit like lord of the rings though with the guards' head masks...
I am definitely not a artsy farty person, do not understand the silent dancing at all, much less the masks and the way they just let the guards kill them without doing anything.i mean fight for your lives people instead of just making the awkward pose and just letting a sword just slash you.
Did not understand why in the hell did the director not think of putting an ending... we know that everyone dies but who the hell killed ziyi? The whole show ends with a sword piercing ziyi and she turning around, with a expression tat she knows the killer and guess what happens next? We are staring into a pond full of duckweed and the sword thrown in... and CREDITS came out.... What the???? there is no other visible suspects since everyone dies before her. so i really cant figure out who in the heck killed her.... disappointing... frustrated.....
i rem once i watched a crime show that ended without letting us know the killer. i went to bed still thinking about it... i did not get the satisfaction to see justice being melted out to the killer. i just stared in to the running credits and thought to myself: WHAT THE? i watched an hour show and nothing came out of it?? At least CSI gives me the ending before ending it. i can go to bed satisfied that it has an ending..
A post just to ramble about open ended endings and how frustrating that i would not know who the killer is. Everyone supposedly dies, how to have the banquet 2? Kisses,
